Day 4 – Father and Friend

On March 6, 2024, I quietly celebrated four years of living in My Haven — my new incubator. I didn’t throw a party to celebrate, but I did create a vibe. I decided I’d make a special dinner with whatever was in the house as a testament to my upbringing. Not only did I want to spend time with God over dinner, but I desired a level of intimacy with him that wouldn’t require words—just a Spirit to Spirit exchange of gratitude and reverence. If I’m being honest, there wasn’t a whole lot in the fridge or the pantry. When I’m fasting, I try to eat all of my snacks and reserve snacks before my fast starts so that I’m not tempted to sneak a couple of Bugles or gummy bears when my stomach starts to grumble.

I had everything necessary for a chicken noodle soup except chicken. I also had bread, eggs, Lactaid milk, butter, and lots of spices. Oh, I also had a chilled bottle of my favorite sweet reisling. When I broke my fast at 5:00 PM, I transitioned into a time of worship.

My voice but your words

Spirit to Spirit Union

Consummated bliss

I lit a fragrant candle, dimmed the lights, clicked on the fireplace, and began to eat. I’d prepared a savory Noodle Soup sans chicken with a sweet and spicy bread pudding. God brought everything else. I was so filled with encouragement, wisdom, and love that I could barely contain it; and when his generosity began to overflow, it seeped from the lids of my eyes, down my cheek, and onto my blouse again and again. I heard him say, Let the river flow, Michelle. And I did.

Reflection: What is God saying to you through the power of story? “What do you have in your hand that will allow you to build intimacy within the walls of your home, your business, or your community?”

Share this post with friends. God wants to build every house. Will you let him?

4 Thoughts

  1. This post reminds me of the importance of spending intimate moments with God. Too many times we find ourselves too busy, when God should be number one priority.
